Ketogenic diets are metabolic therapy for mental illness and neurological issues. Peer-reviewed case studies are published in the research literature showing striking effects in symptom reduction. Some randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) have occurred and more are happening for a variety of mental illnesses and neurological disorders.

What I do.

With many years of experience providing behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavior therapy I am well-positioned to assist with the emotional and behavioral changes involved in the healing process. I have additional post-graduate level education in functional nutrition and specifically in therapeutic carbohydrate restriction as a mental health intervention. I work with individuals wishing to use ketogenic diets to improve symptoms.

How it works.

I have limited individual sessions and help most people using an online program when possible. Using telehealth I would meet with you individually and we would explore what level of dietary change makes the most sense for your particular condition and goals.

If you are doing telehealth from Washington state you may be able to use your insurance benefits for our sessions. If you are outside of Washington state I am happy to do personal consultations with you toward your goals.

What happens

We explore what dietary changes make the most sense for you and help you make the behavioral and food choices needed. Your condition or symptoms may not need a ketogenic diet. If that is the case we will explore other nutritional options or ways of eating that helps you feel your best.

Dietary changes have the power to improve neurotransmitter imbalances, brain energy, and function and even help your brain heal and make new connections. These types of dietary changes have been seen to improve symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders.

Support in the research literature exists for the use of ketogenic diets with a variety of neurological and psychiatric conditions. Peer-reviewed human case studies and some clinical trials. Other papers explore the biological mechanisms involved.
